Massage is an ancient form of therapeutic treatment dating back approximately 4,000 years. Chinese, Hindus, Egyptians, Greeks and Romans are among the first to document holistic treatments and their benefits.
Today, there has been a rebirth of interest in natural medicine and therapeutic modalities to increase, maintain and restore health to its optimum level.
To assist in maintaining, improving or increasing your health to its optimal state, a brief description of techniques I offer are listed below.
Swedish Massage
Swedish Massage has a very relaxing effect on the body. It gently stimulates cardiovascular functions, promotes lymphatic drainage aiding in the elimination of toxins, sedates the nervous system and has an overall toning effect that will improve organ and glandular functions. It facilitates the absorption of nutrients throughout the body and improves, maintains or increases muscle flexibility.
Deep Tissue / Sports Massage
This technique focuses on the deeper layers of muscle tissue. By releasing chronic muscular tension and fibrosis through slow deep strokes and deep finger pressure on the contracted areas, along with range of motion, will improve fluid circulation bringing oxygen and nutrients to assist in decreasing inflammation and toxins and increasing pliability in muscles and connective tissue either following or going across muscle fibers, tendons and fascia to “unstick” the affected area.
Neuromuscular Technique
NMT assists in postural reintegration and structural realignment. It relieves pain and releases tension. Accentuates the cranial - sacrum technique working with nerves for the reduction of muscular pain, muscle congestion and compressed nerves.
NeuroMyofacial Release
Connective tissue is networked throughout the entire body and is known as fascia. Releasing fascia assists in the breakdown of binding muscle which causes tension, soreness and stiffness. Deep, slow, compressing strokes are used in NeuroMyofacial Release.
Reflexology
Working with the reflexes in the feet and all meridian points that correspond to the entire body, it enables the body to seek out its own balance. It is extremely relaxing and helps improve circulation, reduce stress and aid in the elimination of toxins.
